What To Wear For Your Family Photoshoot? Seoul Photographer | Sidiaz Photography

Family Photoshoot outfit ideas, Seoul Photographer

Choosing everyone's outfit is not easy. Moms have to consider the weather (cold, hot, rainy) and season (winter, autumn, spring) for styling and finalizing their family outfits. I would suggest Moms to finalize them weeks in advance before the shoot. Make sure everyone's socks, shoes, jackets, and dresses are put together a week in advance. The clothes are ironed/steamed and ready to wear in your wardrobe.

While you are preparing their outfits, please make sure that you do not buy same style outfit in different sizes for everyone. Because same outfit doesn't truly show everyone's personality. Plus, it doesn't give great variety in photos. It may feel like everyone is wearing a uniform when we take a family picture of everyone together. Also, when Mom and Dad are carrying their kids, those matching outfits would blend in. Below I give some ideas for family session outfits for spring, summer and autumn season in Seoul. You can layer your outfits as per the weather.

Also, don't get matching color outfits. Instead choose complimentary color outfits. If you are considering to wear baby pink, make sure someone is wearing a white, turquoise, and blue. For example see my family outfit ideas board on Pinterest.

Take the season into your consideration when choosing colors. For example, autumn season and spring season will have different vibe in your photos. I don't suggest blues in Autumn and similarly don't suggest greens in spring. Wear something with a style in which you feel comfortable and look good. Choose the colors which is complimentary and goes well with the seasonal vibe in your photos.

This is a most common question that I hear from my clients is, "What should we wear"? As a Mom myself, I understand it. The idea of selecting color schemes for family photos and finding coordinating outfits is not EASY! However I've put together this blog post as a general guide for you to choose your outfits.

How to Pick your Perfect Color Scheme?

Maybe you found a color scheme above that you fell in love with or still deciding between one or the other. Let’s look at a few more tips to help you make sure that color scheme is a perfect fit for your family photoshoot.

1. Location

When selecting color schemes for your family photos, be sure to consider the location of your session in mind. Vibrant colors may look perfect in a downtown urban environment, they may feel a tad out of place in a grass field. For example, for an urban environment, navy and coral will make it stand out while in natural location, I would suggest you to go with muted tones.

2. Your Home

When you are selecting the best colors for your outside family pictures, start by looking inside your home. Where do you plan to hang your final portraits? You may want to pull colors from your decor so that your final artwork looks like it was made for your walls. If the vibe of your home is soft and muted tones, outfits in the same soft and muted style would be a perfect choice.

3. Skin Tones

We all have that favorite color. You know. The one that everyone compliments you in when you wear it. We usually gravitate toward colors that work well with our skin tone without even realizing it. For example, if  you have a warm skin tone, you will tend to gravitate towards and look best in warm colors like brown, gold, oranges and reds. If you have a cool skin tone, you will tend to wear gray, blue, navy and purple colors.

One last tip is when coordinating family outfits, make sure the color schemes looks great on everyone.
